Cat "Language"

Cats ‘’talk’’ by emitting identifiable sounds such as purring, meowing and hissing. The words and sounds emitted by the cat have a significative connotation. Purring is associated with pleasure and anxiety. Meowing is a search or need. There are several levels of tone, each corresponding to the level of need, such as urgent and mild or anger. More intense sounds ( growling or hissing) signify a defensive aggressivity; howling breaks out when a brawl flares between opponents. Certain races of felines such as the Siamese and Oriental are very talkative. Kittens reach their vocal intensity between 6 and 9 weeks of age.
